Effective May 10, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what data Watch Commander ("we", "our", "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We've kept it plain-spoken on purpose. If anything here is unclear, email [email protected].
Watch Commander is a training and reference app for active sworn law-enforcement officers. We collect the minimum data needed to deliver the product: account info, content you create, training progress, optional verification documents, and (only if you enable them) location, camera, photo library, and push notifications.
We do not run ads. We do not sell or share your personal data with advertisers, brokers, or any third party. We use no tracking SDKs, no advertising IDs, and no third-party analytics. Account deletion is one tap and removes everything in a single transaction.
Email, name, badge number, agency, rank — provided when you sign up or update your profile.
Why: To sign you in, personalize the app to your jurisdiction, and verify your law-enforcement status.
Notebook entries, saved laws/cases, report drafts, video notes you create in the app.
Why: So your notes and bookmarks sync across your devices and aren't lost if you reinstall the app.
Quizzes attempted, scenarios completed, videos watched, tools used.
Why: So you can resume training where you left off and see your progress over time.
Used on-demand by the GPS tool, jurisdiction picker, and when you attach location to an Intel report. Never tracked in the background.
Why: To show coordinates on the GPS tool, auto-select the correct state laws, or geotag an Intel report — only when you ask.
Used when you upload a verification photo, Pill ID image, or Intel attachment. The app does not access your camera or library otherwise.
Why: So you can submit verification documents and attach evidence to your own Intel reports.
Photos of your department-issued ID and any related details (name, agency, rank, badge number, work email) you submit so a Watch Commander administrator can confirm your law-enforcement status. Stored on Watch Commander servers, visible only to administrators reviewing your submission, and removed when you delete your account. If your administrator has enabled the optional ID.me integration and you choose to use it, ID.me may also receive the information you provide to ID.me directly under their own privacy policy.
Why: To confirm you are an active officer before granting access to restricted training and intel content.
Direct messages and group chat messages you send to other verified officers, including any images you attach. Visible only to members of the conversation and to administrators acting on a moderation or legal request.
Why: So messages can be delivered to recipients and remain available across your devices.
An Apple Push Notification Service device token tied to your account. Contains no personal information and is rotated by Apple. Removed when you revoke notifications or delete your account.
Why: So we can alert you about new chat messages and important administrative notices. We never send marketing pushes.
A list of users you have chosen to block from chat. Stored on our servers so the block follows you across devices. The blocked user is never notified.
Why: So you can stop unwanted contact across the app, including direct messages and group chats.
When you report a chat message, we store the reported message, the reason you selected, your optional note, and your account so an administrator can review the report.
Why: So administrators can act on harassment, spam, or illegal content quickly.
To deliver core features the app contacts these non-advertising hosts. They may receive your IP address and basic browser/device metadata as part of normal HTTP requests. None of them are used by us to track or profile you, and we do not share any account data with them.
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile, saved notes, training progress, verification uploads, chat messages you've sent, and all sessions are removed in a single transaction.
Backups created before deletion are retained for up to 30 days for disaster-recovery purposes and are then overwritten on rotation. Reported-message records and audit logs tied to a moderation action may be retained beyond account deletion to the extent required to defend against fraud or abuse, in which case the records are dissociated from your identifiable account where possible.
DELETE in the confirmation box.Your account, profile, saved notes, training progress, saved app content, verification uploads, and all sessions are removed in one transaction. This cannot be undone.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can:
Watch Commander is intended for active sworn law-enforcement officers and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, email [email protected] and we will delete it.
If we make material changes to this policy we will update the "Effective" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in-app. Continued use of Watch Commander after a change means you accept the updated policy.
